Happy Interurban Trails

Today Matt and I rode our bikes to REI and then up and down the Interurban Trail.

This trail runs from North to South and is quite extensive, with different portions taking you through all of the different towns.  We rode about 15 miles today through Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace and Edmonds.

Here are a few pics from the day...

Look at me under this HUGE tree.  We stopped here to eat lunch and rest a bit.

Such beautiful little towns.

Watch Matt's trick...

Happy Presidents Day everyone!!  I hope some of you get Monday off....I do!!!

We can forget all our worries...forget all our cares...and go downtown!!

Matt and I had a great day today exploring downtown Seattle.  We started the 20 minute commute into the city after a breakfast at home.  We took a lap through the very busy Pike's Market and then continued down 1st Ave until we reached the CenturyLink field.

CenturyLink Field

The Safeco Field is directly on the other side - They look very cool side-by-side - however, we could not see that view today.

We then walked through the International District and into "Chinatown."

These bad-ass dragons were on several telephone poles

It is a very beautiful part of town.  It was topped off by a trip thorough the huge Japanese Market Uwgimaya.  Some really cool finds in there!

I think it's still alive....or maybe just a zombie pig?

Lotus root

Next, we walked the waterfront and ate a DELICIOUS seafood feast at the Crab Pot.  They dumped the food right onto the table...we destroyed it...and washed it all down with adult beverages!

A tugboat named Betty

Statues needs to keep warm too...

They LOVE totem poles in Seattle!!

The Crab Pot!!!

We headed home and made a Hoffmeyer traditional pot of chicken chili...perfect for a chilly, rainy Seattle evening.

The cozy evening was interrupted briefly with a crazy 30 second hail storm!  It wasn't even raining prior to...it just started hailing...and then it stopped...

Well, hope you enjoyed the pics!!  I'll be sure to write again soon!!

Take care!

Rainy Day in the Park

Matt had the day off yesterday, so our family of four walked to our neighborhood park to play in the rain...

It's a beautiful park with plenty of room to use Hank's new favorite toy...  The Chuck-It !!!!!!!

We, of course, brought the frisbee too!!
Hank is always ready for another throw!

A happy girl

The park has a cool climbing wall for kids....word to the wise...
not a good idea to climb up there when it's wet....

Well, that's all I've got for now...stay tuned for more posts!

A Sunday of Firsts...

Yesterday was my first trip across the Puget Sound!  Matt had been once with work last week.  We took the ferry from Edmonds over to the little town of Kingston across the water.  It was a windy ride, but very pleasant.  We parked our car and then headed up to the sun deck to take some pics.

The ferries are HUGE!  Here are a few different shots of the ferry:

Seagulls were everywhere...we wished we would have brought Gracie with us to help fend them off!

The views were breathtaking.  It has been so sunny and clear this week, which is completely out of character for the NW at this time of the year.  We are really lucky to have had such great views this early in our stay here.

When our ferry arrived in Kingston, we took the car to Port Townsend (less than an hour away from Port Angeles, for those of you who know your Twilight -- Our next trip over will be to Port Angles and probably to Forks.  We'll have to wait until spring/summer to go to La Push, so we can soak up some rays on the beach!)
Port Townsend is a great little town with all of the little seaside charm you could ask for.  We walked around and grabbed a bite to eat at Waterfront Pizza.

Didn't eat here, but cool sign!

According to me, I am the newest member of the Salmon Club.
Lots of boats out on the water yesterday

A calm sea.

One of the best parts of the day trip was being able to see Mount Rainer!  It was a first for me.  I couldn't stop taking pictures while we were waiting for the ferry to take us back over to Edmonds.

It was like that old commercial with the grandpa and grandson who are watching the sun going down....going, going, gone....
"Do it again, Grandpa."

You can just barely still see it on the left...aren't the pinks just beautiful...
Besides Rainer, we saw some other gorgeous sunset views as well:

Finally, a few shots of the ferry at sunset:

The ride home was pretty chilly, so we opted for the passenger deck as opposed to the sun deck.
Hope everyone enjoyed all the pictures!

Always more to come...
